HH Shaikh Nasser Puts Bahrain Sports on the Map

HH Shaikh Nasser’s keenness to follow scientific methods and strategies for the advancement of the sports sector has led to Bahrain’s active participation in the IMMAF | WMMAA World Amateur MMA Championship, International Handball Federation (IHF) Men’s Youth (U19) World Championship, Ironman 70.3 Middle East Championship, GCC Men’s National Basketball Championship and now the maiden cinch of the Arabian Gulf Cup. Bahrain is really taking a front seat in international sports, and the credit goes to HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa; Representative of HM the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee for spearheading this change in the kingdom.

Under HH Shaikh Nasser’s leadership, Bahraini youth and sports have found their footing both internationally and locally, with the ministry winning the rights to launch the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, establishment of The 7th Edition of Youth City 2030, focusing on inclusivity by launching the Khalid bin Hamad Youth Centers Futsal League and first People with Disabilities League and many more achievements.

Taking his commitment further, HH Shaikh Nasser leads by example, coming close to breaking the international record which he set in Bahrain at this year’s Ironman. His children also participated in IronKids and IronGirls and HH Shaikh Nasser was ardently cheering them on.

HH Shaikh Nasser’s directives has been successful for the historic 24th Arabian Gulf Cup Final, where the Bahraini football team bagged their first-ever Gulf Cup. In the recently held final, HH Shaikh Nasser led national companies and banks to contribute to providing 8 planes to take Bahraini spectators to support the team. This is a proof of everyone’s keenness to support HH Shaikh Nasser’s strategy to boost the youth and sports movement in the Kingdom, which will contribute to bringing about more landmark achievements to Bahraini sport during its ‘Golden Era’.
