Dubai Schools to Shut for Three-Week Spring Break During Holy Month, Eid Al Fitr

School students in Dubai will be granted a three-week holiday during the upcoming Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr celebrations in 2024, according to the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) calendar.

The KHDA, responsible for overseeing education in Dubai, has revealed that the spring break will begin on March 25, with classes resuming on April 15 for private schools that follow a September academic year.

The spring break coincides with the holy month of Ramadan, which is expected to begin on either March 11 or 12.

Schools can expect an extended break if Eid Al Fitr, which could likely start on April 8 or 9.

The exact dates will be officially confirmed closer to the holidays, based on the sighting of the moon.

However, the authority said that private schools can only tentatively inform parents about public holidays like Eid and confirm the actual dates once declared by the UAE government.

Schools that begin their academic year in April, such as private Indian, Pakistani and Japanese schools, have been granted permission to close on any day in March, however, they must fulfill the required number of school days (182 days) and also be granted approval from the KHDA.

It is worth noting that the above mentioned information is subject to change based on official announcements and moon sightings.
