Illegal Shrimp Bust: Coast Guard Arrests Four Asian Nationals

Four Asian nationals were apprehended yesterday by Bahrain’s Coast Guard Maritime Patrol Division for possession of approximately 60 kilograms of illegally caught shrimp.

The arrests took place during a thorough combing operation in the maritime area north of Khor Fasht.

Under the terms of a relevant ministerial decree, fishing for shrimp in Bahrain is prohibited during this period of the year, making the catch illegal.

The ban on catching, trading, or selling shrimp as part of the efforts to preserve fish resources began on February 1 and continue until July 31.

The Coast Guard Command confirmed that the suspects are undergoing necessary legal procedures in preparation for their case to be referred to the Public Prosecution.
