India: At least 18 killed in Covid-19 hospital fire

At least 18 people were killed early Saturday in a fire that broke out at the Welfare Hospital in Bharuch, Gujarat, a Covid-19 hospital ward.

Thirty-one patients were rescued and were in a stable condition, police officer BM Parmar said.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

The fire comes as India faces a devastating second wave of Covid-19 infections and deaths.
