The Sharjah Police General Command is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 25-year-old Indian man who drowned while swimming off Al Mamzar Beach.

He was swimming with friends when the incident happened on Sunday. The incident was reported to the police operations room on Sunday night at around 10.30 pm.

Police patrols and rescue personnel, along with National Ambulance, were dispatched to the scene. The rescue team recovered the body and moved it to the hospital.

The case is with Buhairah Police Station, and an investigation is under way.

Police urged the public to report drowning immediately to enable rescue teams to be dispatched to the accident scene as fast as possible.

They urged all members of the society to follow the safety instructions while swimming and choose only safe swimming spots.
