The Indian School requests NTA to reinstate the NEET exam center in Manama

The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) management has requested the National Testing Agency (NTA) to reconsider the decision to halt NEET exam centers outside India.

With the start of the registration process for the NEET UG 2024 and the announcement of 554 centers across India, with no mention of the centers in Bahrain and other Gulf countries, aspiring Indian students in the Kingdom are facing an uncertain future.

In a plea to the NTA, the Indian School has voiced concerns over the decision to stop NEET exam centers outside India. The ISB successfully hosted the NEET UG exam in 2022 and 2023 under the supervision of the Indian Embassy in Bahrain.

However, the recent reversal of the decision by the NTA has left many NRI families grappling with uncertainty and financial strain, school officials stated. Listing out the challenges faced by NRI parents, the school officials pointed out that exorbitant airfares and logistical hurdles associated with traveling to India are aggravating the situation.

Difficult

In such a situation, travelling to India along with the children is difficult, more so with airlines hiking ticket rates, the school stated. School officials emphasised the psychological toll on students who now face the prospect of undertaking exams in unfamiliar environments without the support of their parents.

In the light of these challenges, the school requested the authorities to revoke their decision as it will affect both the parents and the students. The school officials implored the authorities to empathise with the plight of NRI families and resolve their issues by reinstating exam centers in Bahrain and outside India.
