The design of the television unit is based on geometric shapes inspired by the lotus flower associated with the Pharaonic civilization as a sacred and important symbol. It symbolizes beauty, life, respect, and daily renewal to the ancient Egyptians. It also enjoys a great aura of reverence by being placed in the state emblem and the crown, so it was adopted as an aesthetic element in Egyptian architecture through decorations in temples and burial rooms. Its appearance and properties are contemporary with modern style design through its geometric formation.

How was the innovation planned?

The team participated in several sessions of ideation and brainstorming to come up with the final design.

What were the challenges faced during implementation?

Reaching a coherent style for the design was one of the biggest challenges faced by the team.

Give us a brief assessment of your results.

The design of the television unit is a thoughtful integration of ancient symbolism and modern aesthetics. Inspired by the lotus flower associated with the Pharaonic civilization, the geometric shapes used in the design convey a sense of beauty, life, respect, and daily renewal, as revered by ancient Egyptians. The lotus flower’s significance in Egyptian culture, being a sacred symbol found in state emblems and crowns, is translated into a contemporary design language. The fusion of ancient symbolism with modern geometric formations not only pays homage to history but also results in a visually appealing and meaningful design for a television unit. The intentional incorporation of such cultural elements adds depth and richness to the overall aesthetic, creating a piece that is not only functional but also a symbol of cultural heritage and artistic innovation.

In hindsight, what were the most valuable lessons learned while implementing the innovation? Could things have been done differently?

The television unit design based on the lotus flower offers valuable lessons in cultural integration, symbolism, and attention to detail. While the chosen approach has its merits, alternative considerations, such as user research, functionality, and sustainability, could have further enriched the design process
