Kuwait: 40 people test positive after attending social event

Forty people have been infected with COVID-19 in Kuwait after attending a social event, Al Qabas daily reported on Saturday.

Some of the infected were transferred to intensive care due to complications from COVID-19, adding that Kuwaiti health officials have repeatedly warned people against attending gatherings, calling on them to strictly adhere to precautionary measures taken to limit the spread of Coronavirus.

“Unfortunately, there are some people who ignore such measures, which may result in them getting infected after coming in close contact with COVID-19 positive people forgetting that the lack of respect for health regulations has serious health consequences for people. This is why we have seen high rates of infections, especially among the elderly,” health authorities said.

There are too many gatherings, which are continuing in large numbers currently in some locations, such as farms, chalets and stables, even though the camping season was cancelled by the health authorities. This contributed to the relatively high infection rates during this January, especially with the lack of adherence to social or physical distancing, among citizens or expats.
