Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh has requested senior officials at the Vehicle Licensing Section to review an integrated study about linking the expiry date of a driving license issued for an expatriate with the validity of his residency, reports Al-Jarida daily.

Huge congestion is witnessed at the traffic departments in all six governorates of Kuwait due to the annual renewal of expatriates’ driving licenses as per the current regulation.

Senior traffic officials have also recommended the validity of driving license should be five years, and if the expatriate’s residency expires before the expiration of the driving license, it will be cancelled automatically.
