UAE: Rules for Returning Residents to Emirates Other than Dubai

Residents returning from abroad to international airports in emirates other than Dubai will be required to quarantine for a 14-day period, even if they test negative for Covid-19 upon arrival in the UAE, according to Dr Saif Al Dhaheri, Director of Safety and Prevention at the National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority (NCEMA).

In a media briefing on Monday night, Al Dhaheri said that vital workers are exempt from the rule and can self-isolate for seven days. Those returning from low-risk countries are also exempt.

Al Dhaheri urged travellers to check the website of their airlines to find destination-specific information on their countries and determine whether it is classified as low, medium or high-risk.

Additionally, Al Dhaheri said that returnees are also required to sign a mandatory accountability form at departure, which includes a commitment to download the UAE’s Al Hosn app.

The guidelines do not apply to travellers using Dubai’s airports, which has a separate set of protocols that were announced earlier in the week.
