Kuwait Municipality issued a decision to terminate the services of 132 expats from various sectors from the municipality including 37 employees in the Funeral Affairs Department which include washers of dead bodies, grave diggers, technicians which include 7 women. The termination list is divided into two, one with 69 names and the other with 53 workers. A notice period of 3 months has been issued to these expat workers which ends on 2nd December.
This step comes within the first phase to Kuwaitize the municipality. 33% of expats work in Municipality, and by July 1st 2023 will witness many more terminations. The plan consists of 3 phases to terminate the contracts of expats which will begin from Sep 1st until July 1, 2023
