Kuwait’s Ministry of Social Affairs has ordered all registered charitable societies and endowments to suspend electronic fundraising links, including those posted on official websites and shared via social media platforms.
The directive, issued by the ministry’s Charitable Societies and Endowments Department, comes under the authority of Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs Dr. Amthal Al Huwailah.
It aims to strengthen oversight of charitable activities and protect public interest, the ministry said in a statement.
All charity boards have been instructed to comply immediately. The ministry warned that any organization found violating the directive will be held legally accountable.
The ministry did not provide a timeline for how long the suspension would remain in place or whether a new regulatory framework is forthcoming.
