A masked thief responsible for stealing items from vehicles has been arrested by Ras Al Khaimah Police. The suspect, in his thirties, was apprehended shortly after breaking into several vehicles by smashing their windows.

The law enforcement received multiple complaints regarding vehicle thefts in various locations across the emirate, according to Dr Tariq Mohammed bin Saif, Director General of Police Operations.

The thief would smash car windows and steal belongings while wearing a mask to hide his identity. The incident quickly gained attention on social media, with videos and images of the vehicles targeted for theft being shared widely.

A specialised team was formed to investigate the theft, and a comprehensive plan was made to catch the culprit. The team gathered crucial evidence and initiated a search for the suspect. The RAK Police apprehended the thief, who was involved in multiple thefts and identified as an Asian resident.

During police interrogations, the accused admitted to breaking vehicle windows and stealing valuable contents. He has been referred to the public prosecutor for further legal proceedings.

The person who posted the videos of the vehicles on social media was also arrested and will be referred to the public prosecutor. According to the police, spreading such content can negatively impact ongoing investigations and legal processes and allow criminals to escape.

Authorities urged the public not to share such clips and images to prevent compromising investigations and criminals from taking advantage of the situation.

Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al-Naeemi, the Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al-Khaimah Police, praised the vigilance department that led to the swift arrest of the thief responsible for stealing items from vehicles.

He stressed that the police force will remain vigilant in ensuring the safety and security of its citizens and residents, as well as protecting their property from anyone who attempts to tamper with or violate it.
