The Director of Public Health has declared that 69% of private schools’ canteens are run by approved and reliable caterers in the Kingdom.
The four-day inspection program was conducted by Food control section of Public Health in co-operation with the Ministry of Education. The inspection covered an estimate of 52 schools with the participation of 18 specialists from the Ministry of Health.
The director assured that the schools has taken their initiative to register their canteens with reliable caterers approved by the ministry.
The inspection dealt with the quality of food and drinking water sold in canteens along with the healthy environment utilized for food preparation.
The Director further stressed on the importance to provide a safe and healthy environment for students of public and private schools in all governorates compliance with the ministry health requirements.
