The number of Bahrainis suffering from cancer who are receiving treatment at Salmaniya medical complex has increased in comparison to last year. “The number of patients reached 1,556 in 2018 and 1784 in 2019, ” Health Minister Faeqa Al-Saleh said.
Most cases were intense in the 50 to 59 age group, with 515 patients in 2019. With regard to children, the number of cases was 50 cases for the age group from 0 to 9 years. The Minister explained that there are about 200 types of different types of cancer and there are no direct causes known to most of these types. In 2017, tumours ranked second among the leading causes of death, with 15.5% of all deaths in Bahrain.
