NASA shares images taken by Perseverance Rover

NASA shared images taken from the Perseverance rover, including a ‘selfie’ of the vehicle above the surface of Mars, moments before landing.

The images were snapped by a camera mounted above the rover as the space vehicle was being lowered onto the Martian soil.

Scientists say the site is ideal for searching fossilized traces of microbial life preserved in sediments.

It’s the ninth time that NASA has successfully landed on Mars, and the fifth rover.
