Saudi: Mud Houses In Alula Combine Memories Of Past And Present

Citizens of AlUla reminisce about the fond memories of the past during Iftar on tops of the mud houses amid the palm oases. Those memories carry tales and stories that visualise the lives of their ancestors and how those simple yet full-of-life houses gathered families at one banquet.

The architecture of mud houses is inspired by nature, as their walls are made of mud bricks, their rooms and corridors are roofed with timber, and their doors and windows are made of Athel (Tamarix aphylla) and palm tree trunks.

They photographed many citizens in AlUla Governorate while eating Iftar food that reflects the lives of those who once lived there, sources reported.
