Oman: First Female Swimmer Makes History in Olympics

Oman’s Lara Al Yafei has made history by becoming the first Omani female swimmer to represent her country at an Olympics event.

The 16-year-old represented Oman at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

She finished third among eight competitors in the opening heat of the 50m breaststroke competition with a personal best of 37.35 seconds.

The event overall had 43 participants, with Al Yafei finishing 36th overall, however only the top 16 made it through to the next round.
