Air traffic in and out of Salalah Airport has been delayed following an aircraft tyre burst, Oman Airports has revealed. Oman’s Salalah International Airport has cancelled all flights for a few hours.
According to a tweet by Oman Airport, an aircraft had suffered a tyre burst upon landing.
“Following an earlier incident that occurred on the afternoon of March 10 at Salalah Airport, where a tyre burst occurred on one of the operating aircraft to Salalah airport on landing, Salalah airport will remain closed until midnight on March 10,” the airport said in a statement on Twitter.
The Gulf country’s national carrier said in a tweet that all of its flights to and from Salalah have been cancelled due to the closure of the airport.
“Due to the closure of Salalah International Airport for technical reasons, we would like to bring to the notice of our valued guests that all flights from/to Salalah are cancelled until further notice,” Oman Air tweeted.
The airport handles two million passengers per annum.
