A shocking incident has occurred at the public psychiatric hospital, where a nurse was brutally attacked by a patient, leaving him with a permanent 20% disability in his eye.
The incident took place when the 30-year-old patient, who was being treated at the hospital, suddenly ran towards the nurse and punched him in the eye.
The nurse was caught off guard and before he could react, the patient had already knocked him to the ground and continued to assault him.
Fortunately, the nurse’s colleagues intervened and managed to restrain the patient, saving him from further harm.
The public prosecutor has charged the patient with assault, citing that he had attacked the nurse while he was performing his duties, causing him permanent injuries.
The medical report confirms that the nurse suffered a 20% permanent disability in his eye as a result of the attack.
Drug abuse
The hospital’s medical committee has also concluded that the patient is responsible for his actions, despite suffering from a mental health condition accompanied by symptoms of drug abuse.
The committee found that there is no direct causal link between the patient’s mental health condition and his actions, and that he is accountable for his behavior.
The case is being heard before the High Criminal Court, which adjourned hearing the case until May 14, 2024 to hear the closing arguments.
