UK to remove all countries from COVID red list

The British government has decided to remove all 11 countries from its COVID19 travel red list from Wednesday.

The 11 countries which will be removed from the list are Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The Health Secretary was quoted saying that now that there is community transmission of Omicron in the UK and Omicron has spread so widely across the world, the travel Red list is now less effective in slowing the incursion of Omicron from abroad. He added that temporary testing measures for international travel will still be in place.
