Peugeot 208: Good Things Come in Small Packages

Gulf Insider drives the new Peugeot 208.

This may be the smallest car I’ve driven in Bahrain. It has a great and “youthful” design – inside and out.

It has a cool and luxurious interior for a small car, using premium materials and all the latest technology.

There’s keyless entry, automatic folding side-mirrors, wireless phone charging, 3-D digital driver display, various choices of ambient lighting, the latest evolution of its trademark PEUGEOT I-Cockpit® 3D… and lots more.

The front seats hug your sides and are comfy, and there’s a huge glass roof (which doesn’t open).  There’s not much room for rear passengers – three large adults sitting in the back would be a tight squeeze.

It’s small size, parking cameras, and good all-round visibility makes the 208 particularly easy to park.

The 208 is powered by a 1.2 litre turbo engine coupled with a 6-speed automatic transmission that makes 130 hp and 230 Nm of torque.

There are 3 driving modes and while driving around Manama in ‘Sport’, I found the car responsive and nippy – fun even. The new 208 comes in two trim levels; the entry level ‘Active’, and the top-of-the-range ‘GT’.
