Philippines Tops in Southeast Asia with Most Number of Cases

The Philippines has surpassed Malaysia this week as the Southeast Asian country with the most number of cumulative coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases.

The Philippines has 207 new coronavirus cases, pushing the total number of cases in the country to 5,660 as of 4 pm on Thursday, April 16, the Department of Health (DOH) announced. The DOH said 13 more patients died of the coronavirus disease, raising the death toll to 362.

Like Malaysia, Indonesia has also breached the 5,000-mark at 5,182 cumulative COVID-19 cases.

Following the top 3 countries are Singapore (4,427 cases), Thailand (2,672), Vietnam (268), Brunei (136), Cambodia (122), Burma/Myanmar (85) and Laos (19).
