Porsche Bahrain partnered with the Bahrain Turf Club at Rashid Equestrian & Horseracing Club on 6 February for a major race day that brought together elite horseracing, heritage-led brands, and high-performance sporting excellence. While the day featured various events, Porsche’s main focus was sponsoring two races: the Porsche Cup and the Porsche Sprint Race.

The event was part of a larger racing program that included the Bahrain Jewellery Centre Cup. By sponsoring these two races, Porsche Bahrain aimed to connect its brand with the competitive spirit of professional horse racing. Both races tested different skills in the horses and their riders, from long-distance endurance to short-distance speed.

Tactical Success in the Porsche Cup

The Porsche Bahrain Cup was the longer of the two sponsored events, covering 2,400 meters. It served as a showcase of endurance, power, and tactical mastery. Open to imported horses under handicap conditions, the race featured a total prize fund of BHD 3,000, reinforcing its standing within the race day calendar.

Channagide won the race, ridden by jockey Abdulla Faisal and trained by Jaber Ramadhan. Channagide stood out for consistency and strength during the final stretch, helping the team achieve victory in a competitive field of imported runners.

Speed and Precision in the Porsche Sprint

In addition to the long-format Cup, the Porsche Bahrain Sprint Race emphasised pure speed. This race covered a shorter distance of 1,200 meters. In sprint racing, the start is crucial, and there is little room for error or changes in strategy. The horses must accelerate immediately and maintain a high speed until they cross the finish line.

The winner of the Porsche Bahrain Sprint Race was Deham, trained by Yousif Taher and ridden by Hasan Ali. Deham’s win came from a fast start and a controlled sprint, which highlighted the differences from the longer tactical battle in the 2,400-meter race. The sprint race is often a favourite among spectators because of the fast pace and close finishes typical of shorter distances.

Involvement and Local Impact

The event at the Rashid Equestrian & Horseracing Club welcomed Porsche clients and guests to experience horseracing in an environment that celebrates tradition, craftsmanship, and competitive excellence.

Results and Future Outlook

The results from the 6 February race day contribute to the overall standings for the current racing season. For trainers and jockeys, winning a sponsored race like the Porsche Bahrain Cup or the Porsche Sprint enhances their professional record and boosts their stables’ prestige. Winning trainers Jaber Ramadhan and Yousif Taher remain significant figures in the Bahraini racing scene.

The Rashid Equestrian & Horseracing Club continues to host weekly events that generate considerable interest from the public. These events go beyond the sport, also serving as social gatherings that showcase the Kingdom’s cultural heritage. The successful running of the Porsche-sponsored races shows ongoing interest in high-level horse racing and a strong connection between corporate entities and the sporting community.
