Registration for Covishield-AstraZenec vaccination now open

The Minister of Health, HE Faeqa Saeed Al Saleh, today announced that the first batch of the Covishield-AstraZeneca vaccine has been delivered today by the Ambassador of the Republic of India to the Kingdom of Bahrain, HE Piyush Shrivastav, at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre.

The Covishield-AstraZeneca vaccine, produced by AstraZeneca in cooperation with the University of Oxford, and manufactured by the Serum Institute of India under the name ‘Covishield’, has been approved for emergency use by the Kingdom’s National Health Regulatory Authority.

The Ministry of Health announced those wishing to take the Covishield-AstraZeneca vaccine can register via either the “BeAware” application or the Ministry of Health’s website on https://healthalert.gov.bh.

The Ministry explained that upon registration, individuals will be contacted via SMS message with details of their appointment for the first dose of the vaccination. It is worth noting that two doses are required for the Covishield-AstraZeneca vaccine, 28 days apart.

The Ministry of Health concluded by highlighting the National Vaccination Campaign’s commitment to providing a COVID-19 vaccine to all members of society, under the supervision and follow-up of the National Medical Taskforce for Combatting the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and its ongoing efforts to combat the virus.
