Saudi: 120,000 lighting units illuminate Grand Mosque

A total of 120,000 lighting units illuminate the Grand Mosque, its courtyards, roof, and minarets, forming a unique lighting pattern resembling a necklace.

The lighting units of outstanding sizes and shapes have been custom-manufactured for the Grand Mosque, reflecting the interest of the authorities to develop and improve facilities at the Two Holy Mosques.

The mosque has 304 chandeliers with various shapes and sizes in the second Saudi expansion, in addition to more than 1,000 lighting units that are attached to the columns and external walls of the Grand Mosque.

Some lighting units that illuminate with the word Allah also light the upper pillars of the architectural arches inside the mosque and its passages.

Al-Luqmani also noted that the lighting units spread their lights across the yards and minarets of the Grand Mosque and its neighboring atmospheres with 2,000 watts of power for each unit, adding beauty to the sanctity of the place, while maintenance teams and technical personnel are tasked with checking every lighting point inside the Grand Mosque and evaluating their efficiency constantly.
