Saudi Arabia issued 350,000 tourist visas in the last three months of 2019, Chairman of the Board of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage Ahmed Al Khatib said.
The figure is expected to rise in 2020 as the commission is aiming to exceed the numbers achieved in 2019, Al Khatib said in Davos where he attended the Davos Forum.
He hailed the figures as “very encouraging”, especially following several measures taken recently, including allowing those who have a valid UK, US or Schengen visa to obtain a Saudi tourist visa irrespective of their citizenship, he added.
“We are working on re-formulating hotel licenses to make them more attractive to investors and on training people,” Al Khatib said. He also stressed the launch of new investments in the sector.
