Six militant suspects were killed and one arrested in a security operation in Qatif, state security said Wednesday. A huge cache of weapons and ammunition were seized from the hideout of the terrorists.
Five security men were slightly injured and received the necessary treatment and their condition is stable, according to sources. None of the passers-by or residents in the neighbourhood was hurt during the security operation.
The seized weapons include seven machine guns, three bombs, a pistol, 593 machine gun bullets, 30 rounds of pistol, 21 magazines, and 22 mobile phones.
The sources said that the security forces carried out a pre-emptive operation at the hideout of terrorists in a house in Al-Jish village following information about the terrorists’ presence with planning to carry out criminal acts.
After surrounding the hideout, the security forces demanded the seven suspects to surrender themselves, but they rejected their request and opened fire on them. In the ensuing exchange of fire, six terrorists were killed and the seventh one was arrested.
