Bahraini Employees With Advanced Degrees Could Soon Get an Allowance!

Employed Bahrainis with advanced degrees from recognised universities may soon qualify for an allowance.

This scenario will unfold if a proposal presented by a group of MPs receives approval from the Bahrain Parliament.

The allowance would be BD20 for holders of a higher diploma, BD40 for master’s degree holders, and BD60 for those with a doctoral degree.

According to the MPs, the Bahrain government should reinstate educational allowances for employees with advanced degrees, varying in amount based on academic qualifications and according to specific regulations.

The proposed law introduces a new provision stipulating that every Bahraini employee who has obtained an academic qualification from a recognised university, per the law, is entitled to an allowance called the “Educational Qualification Allowance.”

The allowance cannot be combined with any other educational qualification allowance.

Additionally, this allowance does not apply to positions in which an academic qualification is a prerequisite for employment or promotion.

The aim of the proposal by the parliament members is to encourage scientific research, support national talents among government sector employees, and appreciate their efforts through incentive measures that enhance and develop their work, as well as attract ambitious competencies.
