Saudi Arabia: 282 arrested for corruption

A total of 282 citizens and expats have been arrested for alleged involvement in corruption, Saudi Arabia’s anti-graft authority said on Wednesday.

The Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) said that the accused included employees of the ministries of defense, interior, health, justice, municipal and rural affairs and housing, environment and water, education, human resources and social development, hajj and umrah, transport and logistic services and the oversight and anti-corruption authority.

The charges framed against them included bribery, abuse of power and office and forgery. They were arrested during inspection raids carried out by the Nazaha teams during the month of Muharram.

The commission called on everyone to report any suspicious activities involving financial or administrative corruption through the toll free number 980 or by visiting their website. Reports can also be sent by email to 980@nazaha.gov.sa or fax: 0114420057.
