Saudi Arabia’s Food and Drug Authority has announced imposing a ban on poultry meat and egg imports from Poland following an outbreak of the highly pathogenic avian influenza in two Polish provinces.
The authority said the decision was taken based on official reports confirming the spread of the virus in Mazowieckie and Warminsko-Mazowieckie. In response, Saudi regulators blocked the entry of any poultry products that could pose a risk to public health.
The ban covers all poultry products, including processed meat and preparations, while exempting heat-treated items processed under approved methods.
“The Food and Drug Authority will continue to monitor the global health situation and will take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of imported food and protect consumer health,” the authority said in a statement.
The Saudi Chambers Federation also informed poultry importers of the ban, urging full compliance with the directive and collaboration with authorities to ensure proper implementation of safety protocols.
