Saudi Arabia eases restrictions, allows truck entry again

Saudi authorities have said they will allow the entry of trucks into its territory from different countries as the kingdom gradually eases precautions against the coronavirus.

The Saudi Customs announced on Twitter the entry of the trucks coming to the kingdom and the transit ones.

The step comes in compliance with a royal order approving a recommendation from the kingdom’s Political and Security Affairs Council with the aim of relaxing anti-virus precautions at the land crossings, Saudi newspaper Okaz said.

The decision enforces precautionary health measures applied by other countries to truck drivers. They include assessing drivers’ display of symptoms of COVID-19.

In recent weeks, Saudi Arabia has loosened several virus-related restrictions, but a halt to international flights, imposed in March, remains in place.
