“The goal is to achieve sustainable urban development plans and enable municipalities to contribute to improving the quality of life in cities and advancing the housing sector to provide innovative services to beneficiaries,” Al-Hogail said.
He noted the direct impact of municipalities and housing on citizens’ lives, stating the ministry aims to elevate service quality using international best practices.
The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs was established in 1975 to oversee urban planning, development of municipal and rural areas, and management of municipal services.
In 2021, it merged with the Ministry of Housing to form the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, creating an integrated system for further development.
