Saudi Arabia thwarts attempt to smuggle SR2.7 million

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority at Al-Bathaa port has prevented an attempt to smuggle SR2,765,000 abroad.

The authority said that while a customs agent was processing the exit papers for a truck leaving the Kingdom, authorities found the cash, which was concealed inside the rear axles of the truck.

All necessary legal measures have been taken against the smugglers, the authority confirmed.

It added that all travelers entering or leaving Saudi Arabia carrying any currency, monetary instruments, gold bullions or precious metals, stones or fine jewelry valued at SR60,000 or more must declare them through its smartphone app or its official website, by visiting the link: www.customs.gov.sa/ar/declare.
