Saudi Arabia launched an integrated technical system to monitor the real-time movement of public transport vehicles within Makkah Al-Mukarramah and the Holy sites in a bid to ensure the safety and security of Hajj pilgrims this year.

The initiative, launched for the first time by the country’s Public Transport Authority, will feature a mobile control and monitoring center that works through sensors distributed on all main roads to monitor in real-time the movement of public transport vehicles within the two Holy cities.

The integrated system will measure the traffic density of the vehicles along the paths designated for the movement of pilgrims during the Hajj season to plan and deploy manpower and field observers according to real-time requirements.

The system will also conduct an inspection of the vehicles through the center’s 360-degree cameras.

The mobile control and monitoring center is developed by specialised Saudi hands, using the latest technologies.
