Saudi: Bid to smuggle over 11 million amphetamine pills foiled

A bid to smuggle over 11 million amphetamine pills into Saudi Arabia was foiled, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Friday citing a statement from the spokesman of the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC).

In the statement, the GDNC spokesman Cap. Mohammad Al-Nujaidi said the regular monitoring of activities of criminal networks planning to smuggle narcotics into the Kingdom led to the arrest of their members in Riyadh.

According to the spokesman, the directorate foiled their attempt to smuggle as many as 11,375,600 amphetamine pills, hidden in a shipment of garlic, into Saudi Arabia.

He added that the directorate managed to arrest all members of the criminal networks inside the Kingdom.
