Saudi border guards in the eastern region rescued a Turkish sailor at sea after he suffered from a medical emergency.
Saudi maritime patrols by border guards at the King Abdulaziz Port Security Unit in Dammam accompanied a commercial vessel to shore, after receiving a call that a Turkish sailor on board suffered an emergency medical condition, spokesman for the Border Guards Cmdr. Saher Bin Mohammed Al-Harbi said.
The guards received a call at 11:25 a.m. from the Search and Rescue Coordination Center, which informed them about the critical condition of the 28-year-old crewmember on the merchant vessel who needed to be immediately evacuated.
The guards located the ship, evacuated the sailor and transferred him to the hospital in coordination with the Saudi Red Crescent Authority.
