As part of the wider Saudi Vision 2030, the Ministry of Housing has announced the success of building the first house using 3D printing technology in the Middle East.
The house, which is situated on Housing Ministry land west of King Khalid International Airport, was built by Dutch technology firm CyBe.
A 3D digital model is created through the printing of consecutive layers on top of each other until they form a final shape.
Housing Minister Majed bin Abdullah Al-Hogail said the experiment will offer an insight into the future of construction and the Kingdom’s role in using modern technology to provide job opportunities for its citizens.
Dr. Abed Al-Sadoon, head of the programme, said the project also aims to encourage the private sector to leverage technology in housing projects.
