Saudi: Schools to be closed in Makkah, Jeddah tomorrow amid rain forecast

In-person classes will remain suspended on Thursday in all schools in Jeddah and Makkah, in the wake of the forecast of rainy weather.

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) said in a statement that moderate to heavy rain would hit many parts of Makkah including Jeddah and Rabigh.

The General Directorate of Education in the Jeddah governorate announced that it was decided to suspend in-person classes for students of schools in Jeddah, Rabigh, and Khulais on Thursday.

The decision was based on reports received from NCM, taking into account the safety of everyone.

However, online classes will be conducted through the “Madrasati platform” for all students, male and female employees of schools and education offices, it said.

Hussein Al-Qahtani, the spokesman of NCM, said in a statement that weather indications show that the current rainy situation in Jeddah would not be at the rates of the torrential rain that hit Jeddah for several hours on November 24.
