Saudi Arabia seizes illegal items, blocks websites

Saudi authorities responsible for policing intellectual property (IP) rights seized thousands of items and blocked scores of websites during a recent inspection campaign.

The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP) in cooperation with the General Directorate of Public Security checked for breaches of IP regulations in visits to commercial stores and establishments throughout the Kingdom.

Inspectors seized 11,620 items that violated creative rights including electronics, computer programs, sound recordings, and printed works. The SAIP also monitored more than 355 websites to check on compliance with IP systems rules and blocked 77 found to be breaching regulations.
