The Ministry of Labour revealed on Saturday in its Q1 report for 2021 that 1.4 million expatriate workers have been employed in Oman, with 6% holding top posts like manager, investor or specialist.
According to the report, the total number of migrant workers was 1,144,185, of which, one-third or 604,163 work in the Muscat Governorate, 204,381 in North Al Batinah and 165,647 in Dhofar.
In terms of designation, 31,254 workers are employed as directors of public administration and 60,451 specialists and 40,759 technicians are employed in the scientific, technical and humanitarian fields.
The vast majority of expat workers are concentrated in the basic auxiliary engineering professions, with more than 500,000 workers in this sector.
More than 95,000 work in sales and over 83,000 work in agriculture and animal husbandry. There are over 100,000 workers in the industrial, chemical processes and food industries sector.
