The validity of employment visas issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Development (MLSD) for the private sector firms has been reduced from two years to one year. Both Saudis and expatriates welcomed the decision.
But this will not be applicable to visas issued for government services as well as for domestic workers, according to an order issued by Minister of Labor and Social Development Dr. Ali Al-Ghafis.
The decision was taken on the basis of Article 11 of the Labor Law under which the minister can take the procedures that are deemed necessary for improving the efficiency of the employment market.
