Sharjah to reopen malls, salons under strict guidelines from tomorrow

Sharjah has announced the reopening of malls, salons, restaurants and cafeterias from Sunday, May 3.

Owners and managers of the facilities have been urged to take all preventive steps to avoid the spread of coronavirus.

One of the guidelines highlighted that shoppers who are over the age of 60 will not be allowed to enter the malls.

Only 30% of the total parking spaces inside the mall will be available.

During the first stage of the plan to open markets in the context of combating the outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic, the requirements include maintaining the occupancy by 30% of the areas in the commercial centres, and the need to place posters in front of the stores that show the number of visitors allowed inside.

Social distancing should be maintained at a distance of 2 metres between people.

The SEDD stressed that the reopening of these sectors depends on the strict guidelines by the authorities, and therefore Sharjah Municipality teams will monitor the situation.

The SEDD highlighted the importance of sterilisation of centres, and made it compulsory for shoppers to wear face masks and gloves to stem the virus cases.

The working hours in the commercial centres will be from noon until 9pm.

Supermarkets, hypermarkets and pharmacies will operate 24 hours.

Employees of the commercial centres are obliged to comply with precautionary measures issued by the UAE National Emergency and Crisis and Disaster Management Authority.
