The Sheraton Grand London Park Lane is the kind of hotel that leans into its heritage and gets the fundamentals right – location, space, service – with the added bonus of Gatsby-era glamour. For anyone heading to London for a mix of leisure, theatre, or work (or all three), it quietly impresses.

Let’s start with location: right on Piccadilly, five minutes from Green Park tube station, and walking distance to Hyde Park, Mayfair, and Buckingham Palace. Whether you’re jetlagged and in need of a green space or rushing to catch a theatre production in the West End, you’re well-placed.

First Impressions

Arriving from Gatwick was a breeze – train to Victoria and then a quick cab to the hotel, where the vibes of traditional London could be felt from the moment I entered. The lobby sets the tone: marble floors, sweeping staircases, and plenty of nods to 1920s Art Deco. It’s elegant without trying too hard, and the service is confident and warm.

My suite came with a clear view over Green Park, and waking up to that expanse of green with London’s skyline in the distance is something I wouldn’t mind getting used to. The room itself was properly spacious with a separate seating area, big windows, and all the expected comforts: plush robes, a great bed, fast Wi-Fi, and enough storage for a proper city stay.

The Great Gatsby Experience

When it comes to dining, the hotel delivers exceptionally. But the standout experience is The Great Gatsby Afternoon Tea in Palm Court. This isn’t your standard cucumber sandwich setup. Inspired by the Great Gatsby: A New Musical, now showing in London, the tea is part storytelling, part edible theatre.

Expect savouries like a Smoked Salmon Rockefeller Tart and an East Egg Truffle Salad – more imaginative than you’d think for a themed menu. Then come the sweets: Daisy’s Tropical Choux, a sharp Lemon & Jazzmine Pie, and a show-stopping Gatsby Forest Gâteau that manages to be rich and elegant at the same time. You’re served in a vaulted Art Deco space with a string quartet playing in the background. It’s transportive, without being over the top.

Bonus points for the sparkling Saicho tea, a non-alcoholic option that feels like a proper toast. If you do want something stronger, the themed cocktails, like the Green Light Martini, lean into the era perfectly.

Fitness and Facilities

The gym – the most important place for me during a vacation – is spacious, clean, and well-stocked with everything from weights to cardio. Not always a given in a heritage hotel, but Sheraton’s made space for the modern traveller.

There’s also a Club Lounge (for Bonvoy Platinum members and up) that’s worth accessing if you want a quiet corner to work or graze on canapés between meetings or museum visits.

A Proper London Base

What stood out most was how well the hotel balances old-school charm with modern needs. It doesn’t overcomplicate anything, and that’s a strength. You’ve got Green Park on your doorstep, Mayfair behind you, and Soho within walking distance. But inside, it’s quiet, calm, and wrapped in Deco nostalgia.

Sheraton Grand London Park Lane isn’t chasing trends. It doesn’t need to. It knows exactly what it is: a classic London stay with all the right upgrades. Whether you’re flying in for culture, shopping, or just a very good cup of tea, this is a place that makes the city feel just that little bit more cinematic. I’ll definitely be back.
