In order to keep pace with the progress in the provision of services in the electricity and water sector, the authority has in recent years started introducing smart meters to replace mechanical meters like the developed countries.

Recently, false and incorrect information was raised about the inaccuracy of smart meters. Authorities stated that “They are the most accurate meters in order to monitor the actual consumption automatically and without human intervention.”

The authority said that smart meters also contribute to the speed of activation of electricity and water accounts for subscribers, where EWA can activate the electricity account at the same time that the application is submitted.
