Bahrain: Three Men Ordered To Pay €7,500 to Language Academy for ‘Breaching Agreement’

The High Civil Court obligated three Asian men to pay €7,500 (BD 3,122) to an academy with which they had contracted to learn a foreign language, according to the protocol of cooperation between the academy and its headquarters abroad, in the hopes of completing studies and travelling to work in the country where the academy is headquartered.

However, they refused to pay the remainder of the fees they owed once they failed to pass the examinations. The academy’s representative said that the defendants contracted with the academy to learn a foreign language for the purpose of attaining job opportunities in a foreign country through the exam prepared by the main academy abroad.

The plaintiff provides educational services and consultations, including educational mediation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and other educational entities abroad. The defendants applied for the aptitude test prepared by the German Academy, however, one of them failed the exam, while the other two failed to pay the second fee instalment.
