Oman seizes over 100 kilos of shrimp and illegal fishing nets

A group of people were arrested on charges of fishing 150 kg of shrimp during a ban on fishing and trading, and a number of prohibited nets were also seized from a fishing boat, in Muscat.

“The fisheries control team in Muscat Governorate was able to seize and confiscate 150 kg of shrimp prepared for sale during the fishing and trading ban period, with the exception of farmed and imported shrimp. The team also seized a number of prohibited (nylon) nets on a fishing boat.  Legal procedures are completed against violators,” Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries Wealth and Water Resources said.
