Weather sites like Freemeteo showed sub-zero temperatures in the high-lying regions in Oman like Jebel Shams in the north-eastern part of the country, the highest mountain range in Oman. Many weather-watchers in Oman had shared images indicating sub-zero temperatures in these places.

As per a weather site, tonight’s temperature in Jebel Shams is shown as minus two to four degree Celsius, the pattern of which will continue for this entire week.

Hamoud Said, who works with a resort in Jebel Shams, said that the temperatures have dropped drastically since last week. “We have heavy bookings for the next couple of weekends, being Christmas and New year weekends. With a lovely weather during the day time, every weekend from now on will be a full house in all the resorts in this area.”

The weather across the Sultanate has dipped since the last one week with the minimum temperature in the capital and nearby areas reaching 15 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature lingered around 25 degrees Celsius.

Jebel Akhdar, another mountainous region known for its picturesque settings and greenery around too had its fair share of cold spells, with a snow cover visible in some areas. Social media users in this region had shared images of a small snow man with a leafy cap, and a frozen little pond.
