Summer Break for UAE Schools to Start on July 2

UAE students, many of who are currently studying for their final exams, have six weeks left to go before schools close on July 2 for the long summer break.

The Ministry of Education (MoE) said that students in all public and private schools that follow the ministry’s curriculum will start their summer holidays on July 2. Meanwhile, teachers will start their summer break one week later from July 9.

June marks the start of final term exams that are held for all or most of the month, which due to coronavirus COVID-19, will be held online. And in a first, most school-leaving external exams such as IB, IGCSE and A-Levels have been cancelled because of the pandemic.

However, the ministry did not clarify whether students will be required to return to school premises or will have to continue e-learning from home.

On its website, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) explained that although schools are scheduled to open in September after the summer break, “it’s still unknown what form this will take or whether that will change.”
