1,200 Permits Issued for 1.2 Million Iftar Meals to Be Served per Day in Dubai
As many as 1,200 permits have been issued for the distribution of Iftar meals in Dubai, an official at the Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department in Dubai has announced.
The department’s Director General Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi said these permits will ensure that 1.2 million Iftar meals will be served per day.
He also announced a range of activities that citizens and expat residents can benefit from during Ramadan.
The events have been classified under four categories, namely Islamic, cultural community and charitable activities.
In addition to the traditional Dubai Readers initiative where renowned readers from both within and outside the UAE will lead the Taraweeh and Qiyaam prayers, a series of lectures in multiple languages will be held across mosques in the emirate to cater to the needs of worshippers, he said.
The activities will be part of the Ramadan in Dubai campaign launched under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council.
Al Muhairi said, “We reaffirm our societal role and the entrusted responsibility following an Islamic approach that fosters closeness and love and promotes the spirit of peaceful coexistence among citizens and residents, both locally and globally,” Al Muhairi said.
This year’s Dubai Ramadan initiative incorporates social media programmes alongside interactive initiatives such as Our Crescent is in Our Home. Additionally, there are television programs in collaboration with Dubai Media Incorporated, such as Years in the Service of the Houses of Allah, among other programmes, he added.
Islamic and cultural events
This package encompasses a range of legal and scientific courses, including a Quran memorisation competition tailored for Dubai government employees, under the slogan “The Guardian Employee” in its third session. Additionally, there is a knowledge enhancement programme and fatwa councils.
Community events
These events will target diverse demographics. Among these are Hala Ramadan, We Break Our Fast Together, Dubai Pulse and At One Table, which aims to unite global youth. Also being featured is the inaugural edition of the Muezzin Al-Fareej event. Dubai Iftar, in addition, will convene individuals from various religions and sects at a single table, constituting the region’s largest religious gathering.
Charitable activities
A number of charitable events have been planned to promote the culture of philanthropy. These include initiatives like the Art of the Clothes Box. There will also be events integrating sports, health and donations, such as the Step of Life initiative. The department has also revealed plans for organising and coordinating the largest human slogan as part of the Zayed Humanitarian Day.
